
The rupee fell 55 paise in the afternoon trade on February 25 as the dollar edged up on safe-haven flows after US President Donald Trump said tariffs against Mexico and Canada would go ahead as planned.
According to the Bloomberg data, the rupee is down 0.51 percent, the Thai Baht 0.52 percent and the Indonesian Rupiah 0.43 percent from their previous day’s close.
At 1.53 pm, the rupee was trading at 87.16 against the dollar after falling to 87.2525.
The rupee opened 5 paise up at 86.8500 against previous session’s close. Asian currencies also depreciated against the dollar during the day. According to Bloomberg data, the rupee is down 0.51 percent from previous day’s close, the Thai Baht 0.52 percent and the Indonesian Rupiah 0.43 percent.
